Asbestos was extensively used as a building material in the UK from the 1950s through to the mid-1980s. It was used for a variety of purposes and was ideal for fireproofing and insulation. Any building built before 2000 (houses, factories, offices, schools, hospitals etc) can contain asbestos. The inhalation of Asbestos fibres can cause life threatening diseases such as mesothelioma and lung cancer. It is currently the biggest occupational killer in the UK and currently accounts for around 4,000 deaths a year nationwide.
The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 place strict obligations on employers to manage asbestos risks in the workplace, and on other duty holders to manage asbestos risks in non-domestic premises. We are able to produce tailor made asbestos management solutions and training courses as well as offering advice about exactly what needs to be done to meet the requirements of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.
