A Demolition or Refurbishment level survey will be necessary when the building (or part of it) is to be upgraded, refurbished or demolished. The purpose of a Demolition or Refurbishment survey is to locate and describe (as far as reasonably practicable) all Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM’s) in the area where the refurbishment or demolition activities are to take place. These asbestos surveys are fully intrusive and often necessitate destructive inspection of the fabric of the building to gain access to all areas which are suspected to contain any ACM’s.
The purpose of the Management Asbestos Survey is to locate (as far as reasonably practicable) the presence and extent of any Asbestos Containing Material (ACM) in a property which could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy. The Management Asbestos Survey forms the basis for the continued management of any identified ACMs.
